Exceptions

Public holidays

The Library is normally closed for just over a week at Christmas, on the Friday and Monday either side of the Easter weekend, and on the August Bank Holiday.

In 2016-17 these scheduled closures will fall as follows:

  • Friday 23 December 2016 - Monday 2 January 2017 (inclusive)
  • Friday 14 April & Monday 17 April 2017
  • Monday 28 August 2017

We are normally open on the two bank holidays in May that fall during Full Term.

Occasional closures

Although we try to avoid it, we sometimes need to close at lunchtimes and for staff training events during vacations. We advertise these closures as far in advance as possible via the News section of this website, via the hps-discussion and hps-library-users mailing lists and/or the Whipple Library Twitter account (@hpslib).

Please contact us in advance to check if there are likely be any changes to the normal pattern of opening hours if you are travelling a long distance to work in the Library between July and September.

Other Cambridge libraries

Opening hours vary across the Cambridge library network according local circumstances and staffing arrangements. Check the times for other libraries via the Cambridge libraries directory.
