Entrances to the Library
Entering via Free School Lane
The main entrance on Free School Lane is shared with the Department and the Whipple Museum, and still bears the name of our predecessors, the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry, above the door. (///ranks.fried.herbs on what3words).
To get to the Library from this entrance, go up the stairs, turn right through the swinging gate, and follow the signs up to the Library. You can access the Library via this entrance Monday–Friday, 9.15am–5.00pm.
Entering via Pembroke Street
There is another entrance to the Library on Pembroke Street, through the archway, known as Richard's Gate, around the corner from Free School Lane (///themes.lease.blocks on what3words). This is the entrance you must use for access to the Library between 5.30 and 7.00pm.
This entrance is on a card access system. If you are a HPS student or staff member, your University card will already be configured for access. If you are not sure if your card will work, please ask at the HPS Department reception, Monday–Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm.
Accessible Entrance
Step-free access is available through the Whipple Museum's group entrance (///free.valve.marked on what3words), via the gate to the New Museums Site on Bene't St (///local.toward.lofts on what3words).
