In-Person Services

Subject to local and government guidance we are able to offer limited in-person services at the Whipple Library.

Bookable workspace

We have a limited number of bookable workspaces for those wishing to work in the library.

The booking system is available here

You will be able to book a morning or an afternoon slot. You can if you wish book both a morning and afternoon slot - however please note that block-booking multiple days is not permitted.

You can book slots up to a week in advance, and up to 5pm on the day before your visit.

Any unbooked seats may be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.

When you arrive we will ask you to sign in as part of our committment to contact tracing.

In line with government advice and University policy, face coverings must be worn at all times in the library space unless you have a specific exemption.

Browse & Borrow

Browsing open shelves can be an important way of encountering material and therefore a maximum of three people will be allowed into the library at any one time to browse the collections. We ask that you limit the time you spend doing this to ensure access for all.

Please do not walk straight into the library: check with staff at the library desk. If the library is at capacity you may be asked to wait. Please also respect social distancing and guidance on wearing face coverings at all times within the library.

You can borrow books that you encounter in the library: normal limits on the number of books you may have charged to your account apply.

The Whipple Library is open to readers (anyone with a University or UL reader card) between

9:30 - 16:50 Monday - Friday
